Our Anchor Boys and Girls are our youngest age group, 5 - 8 year olds. Always lively and always fun they enjoy a busy programme of crafts, games, music and stories.
Junior Section is for boys and girls aged 8 - 11. These fabulous youngsters enjoy evenings of sports, games, badge work, craft and many other exciting activities!
From 11 up Company Section is the top age group. These young men and women enjoy a varied programme of sport, badge work and other activities.
The 4th Southampton Boys’ Brigade (and more recently Girls’ Association) has been working with the young people of Shirley for more than 100 years. In 1915 the company was started at the Methodist Church in Howard Road before moving to the (then) newly built St. James Road Methodist Church where we have been ever since.
As a uniformed Christian organisation we have sought through all that time to bring something of God’s grace to all our members through a programme of sport, activities, competition and special events.
A member of the 4th since age 8 Jason now looks after Company Section and oversees the company as a whole. A software developer by trade and father to 2 girls Jason enjoys films and football in those rare moments of down time.
Russell has been at the 4th Southampton Boys' Brigade since the age of 5. Working at Shirley Infant and Junior school he runs a popular children’s computer club!
Donna has been leading the Anchor Section for more than 25 years . A Civil Servant, married with 3 sons who are all Officers in the Company. She enjoys reading and training her conure.
